DIMICATOR

Any martial art has to be compromised in training for the sake of safety. This is as true today as it was in times past. In fact, some Renaissance training swords, often referred to as fechtfedern or federschwerter, have survived in museum collections and can also be spotted in some treatises. Today, protective equipment at DIMICATOR comprises fencing mask with integral back flap, plus neck protection. Sleeveless fencing vest and groin protection are recommendable. Bucklers are particularly well suited to guard one's hands, so light leather or fencing gloves suffice. Sharp swords are only used for cutting practice and solo drills. Partner exercises and freeplay are carried out with appropriate blunt training steel swords.
